The collet is 8mm round and the back and sides are open so the sunshine can light up your stone.

Properties: Amethyst comes from the Greek word ametusthos (not intoxicated). Legend says Bacchus (the wine God) angry at an insult, said the first person he should meet he would feed to his tigers. The next person he met was a stunning maiden named Amethyst. She sought protection from her Goddess and was turned into a clear crystal. Bacchus regretting his cruel act, poured some of his grape juice onto the stone giving the stone its lovely purple colour.
Hence Amethyst wards of intoxication and over indulgence. Worn especially at the navel "the mouth of the body"
